Konjac Sponges Are Easy To Care For Once You Know How . . .
So you’re just trying out konjac sponges and you love them. Your skin is clean, exfoliated, and its pH levels are balanced. You’re not even worrying about all the dangerous fillers, chemicals, and other junk that were a normal part of your old skin care routine. Life’s great, but there’s still one thing on your mind: how do you take care of your new set of konjac sponges? Worry no more – taking care of your sponges is easy and helps you get the most out of these unique little tools.
A good rinse is the first step in konjac sponge care. After use, turn your sink on warm, and let the water run over your sponge for a few seconds. When you’re done rinsing, squeeze the water out, but don’t wring it! Konjac sponges aren’t the same as the sponges you use to do dishes: rough treatment can cause damage and reduce their lifespan. Instead, place it between your palms and gently squeeze until your hands are flat and your sponge is no longer dripping.
Once your sponge is rinsed, find a dry, airy place for it to dry out. Hang it up using the sponge’s loop, or simply let it sit in a well-ventilated area. It will shrink and harden as it dries. Be sure to rehydrate it before you use it again: konjac sponges should not be used dry. When hydrated, your white sponge can be used every day to exfoliate the skin and get rid of blackheads, dirt, dead skin cells, and excess oil. It’s gentle enough that it can be used in sensitive areas (such as around your eyes). If your skin is acne prone or oily, use the black sponge once a day. If not, reserve it for weekly use. The better you take care of your sponge, the longer it will last. If you take good care of it, your konjac sponge should last about six weeks. We recommend sterilizing it in boiling water once a week to keep it clean and happy. All good things do come to an end, though, and even with the best care most sponges will start to break down. When they do, don’t toss them in the trash! Instead, compost them or bury them in your garden.
