Need to know how to get rid of calluses? If you’re like me and tend to build up dry, tough skin on your feet, then you probably do. I used to go to the spa when I got calluses, but that got way too expensive and time consuming. Now I just use a pumice stone to keep my feet, elbows, and hands looking amazing.
I love my pumice stone. Love. It. I love it so much that I made a video explaining how I use it to exfoliate my feet. So if you’re wondering how to get rid of calluses, watch this for everything you need to know:
How to Get Rid of Calluses with a Pumice Stone
Here’s what I do whenever I use my pumice stone:
- Soak Your Feet: …or your elbows, or your hands, or wherever else you’re exfoliating. Pour a bath to soak your feet in, or fill a bowl with warm water. The goal is for your dry skin to be soaked and soft. Soak for five minutes, then check your skin. If it still feels tough, give it a little more time.
- Wet Your Stone: When your pumice stone is wet, it will slide across the skin instead of catching it. Soak your stone in your soaking water, or run it under the faucet before use.
- Exfoliate: Gently rub your pumice stone over the callused area. Use circular motions to slough the dead skin away. Be gentle! Let the stone do the work for you – there’s no need to scrub. If you’re working on your feet, pay special attention to your heel and the side of your big toe. And if your feet could use a little extra cleansing, feel free to add a little of your favorite soap to the stone.
- Rinse and Repeat: Rinse any remaining dead skin off of your feet, then check them. If they’re smooth and soft, you’re done! If there’s still some skin you’d like to remove, keep going. Keep in mind that your stone will wear down a bit as you use it, so you may have to flip it over to get a fresh surface.
- Dry: Use a towel to gently dry your feet, then apply your favorite oil or cream. I love using Argan oil after I pumice – it helps keep my feet soft, supple, and glowing.
Taking Care of Your Pumice Stone
You gotta show your stone a little love if you want it to last. Here’s how I keep mine in great shape:
- Hold your pumice stone under running water. Use a toothbrush and a bit of soap to clean off any bits of dead skin.
- Use a towel to dry your stone, then allow your stone to completely air dry in a well ventilated space.
- Give your stone a deep clean every few weeks by soaking it for a few minutes in boiling water. This gets rid of any bacteria and keeps it safe to use.
I hope you’re no longer wondering how to get rid of calluses! If you have any other questions about how to get the most out of your stone, let me know in the comments below and I’ll get right back to you. Happy pumicing!

Danielle
